Dr Das - Visionary Underground
Dr Das is a bassist, programmer and producer and one of the founder members of ADF, which developed out of workshops he was running in London in 1993. He left ADF in 2006 to resume his exploration of dub and experimental world music.
He recently released his first solo album “Emergency Basslines,” an instrumental set putting the emphasis back on the melodic, driving basslines he is well known for, but in the context of distorted Indian and Arabic percussion loops. The music, which he terms ‘dub noise,’ is reflective of a world that is troubled but which remains optimistic.
Dr Das has a 2 other albums in the pipeline as well as being engaged in a number of collaborations and production and remix projects. He also plays bass for drum ‘n’ bass collective Visionary Underground.
He firmly believes in the potential of dub as the melodic and rhythmic undercarriage of all world music and therefore, as a great unifying force.
