Lowkey
Lowkey
Lowkey may only be 18 but has already cemented himself in the elite group of UK lyricists. He rhymes and performs with a maturity and ability that a tiny percentage of MCs will achieve in their lifetime. His plaudits range from Skinnyman to Zane Lowe (Radio 1) and he has already received attention from many record labels. Coming up in open mics and battles Lowkey grabbed attention each time he took to the stage, amongst the people who took notice were UK Hip Hop staple Doc Brown and Sensory Overload Records CEO Myst.
Lowkey and Doc Brown then recorded the UK Hip Hop anthem ‘Donnie’s Lament’ sampling the song ‘Mad World’ by Gary Jules which later became the UK Christmas Number 1.
Donnie’s Lament' went on to be one of the most successful UK Hip Hop tracks of all time getting exposure on all radio stations across the country from Radio 1 and Capital FM to the underground pirates, it received the full support of the media.
Sadly the sample was never cleared meaning the song couldn’t get a general release and remained a white label bootleg.
